 Job Description


We have a position available for an enthusiastic Linux expert for the support of our Linux-based cluster environments. The position requires excellent customer and 3rd party facing skills through both phone and email. You will provide pro-active and reactive support to end-users and administrators of our high performance computing environments. You will have a shared team responsibility to ensure that all SLA support levels remain intact and that trouble shooting is at maximum efficiency. The position is Amsterdam based but on occasion it may be needed that you visit customer sites to provide our customers with local support.

There will be ample opportunity to develop your skills and to take initiative. You will have the opportunity to work with the latest hardware and software technologies such as cutting edge massive storage platforms, high speed network interconnects as InfiniBand, Myrinet and 10GE as well as modern High Performance Computing software. At ClusterVision you will be able to constantly extend your knowledge with new technologies in both software and hardware.

Your training in specific Linux clustering technologies will be provided for by ClusterVision.


 Required and Desirable Skills


Profile
Your communication skills and pro-active attitude allow you to constantly deliver improved service performance and increased customer satisfaction. You are both customer and 3rd-party faced and solution focused. You are accurate, a team player and fluent in English and Dutch. You should be very familiar with the GNU/Linux Operating System at system administration level and you should be familiar with at least the basics of TCP/IP, CPU/memory and disk technologies. The ability to program in Perl/Bash/PHP and knowledge about high performance and high availability clustering would be seen as advantageous, but not strictly necessary.

Parallel Programming and Scientific Computing
Most of our Linux supercomputer clusters are used for scientific high performance computing applications and many of our customers are scientists. Some prior experience with parallel programming (MPI) and an affinity with scientific computing would be seen as advantageous, but not strictly necessary. Knowledge of technologies like SGE, PBS, LDAP, NFS, PXE, Heartbeat, Lustre, GPFS, FhGFS, Nagios and Ganglia is seen as advantageous, but is also not strictly necessary.

General Skill
